Hello, this is episode number 1 of a monthly podcast series where I read out and talk about my personal highlights from the posts and poems from the previous month on the blog.
Enjoyed this Nial. It's good hearing the pieces again with a bit of content, I like this fomat, I think once a month would be great. How'd did you find doing an almost an hour? all the stuff on hiku has been really infomrative.
Thanks for the little shout-out as well. Yet again you've given me a bit of inspiration. I keep going on about doing a live video stream thing but I'm not quite ready for that, doing something simialr using the podcast would help with getting the material ready. You're an innovater!
Thanks Paul, doing an hour was fine for me. I’ve done some epic episodes on my other podcast, Rusty Sonnets so it’s not new territory for me. I also give two hour long lectures a week with my Uni work and flapped my trap for up to two hours on my Twitch streams too. It’s just one of those things you get better at the more you do it. It’s a lot easier when it’s bullet pointed rather than scripted but I didn’t even bother with that this time. Anyway, I don’t think you’d have a problem, especially seeing as your natural tempo and delivery is a bit more laid back than mine.
Glad the haiku stuff helped to. It can be a bit dense and full of rules for the unfamiliar but can quickly become a bit of an all consuming black hole.
My advice to anyone is just to go for it. The best time to try something new is when there’s not a lot of people following it. It means you can either grow your audience as your project grows or quietly jack it in if you lose your enthusiasm for it. I’m always losing my enthusiasm for stuff so I have no problem with someone trying out something similar. If it genuinely excites them then I’m always happy to see someone else tries it out, especially when I don’t stick with it.
